My Story
My name is Ameneh and I am the founder of Ujjayi Collective.
Ujjayi (उज्जायी), deriving from Sanskrit, means ‘one who is victorious’.
I teach Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation. I am also a Trainee Yoga Therapist. I have been teaching for over 7 years and my style is rooted in anatomy, neuroscience, physiology, somatics and philosophy. I teach a range of classes from classical Hatha Yoga, dynamic Vinyasa flow and strength-based practices to more gentle practices such as restorative yoga and meditation. I believe we possess innate wisdom when it comes to our well-being. My intention is to teach about the power of the mind and body through evidence-based practices and to encourage practitioners to connect to their own strength and inner knowing.
I enjoy finding links between Yoga and the different sciences, nature, art, literature, psychology and philosophy and exploring how they work together and play out in everyday life.
I come from a corporate background and know well the demands and challenges placed upon us in such environments; I look forward to offering you a space in which you can recharge and recalibrate.
In 2016, after practicing Yoga for 10 years, it was high time I did something about
my urge to share its magical benefits with everyone and I went on to complete
my Yoga Teacher Training with the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in the Himalayas in India.
Since then, I have completed training in Applied Anatomy and Physiology,
Yoga for Children, Teens and Families, Yoga Therapy for Addictions with the Minded Institute and the NHS commissioned ‘Yoga for Health’ programme with Yoga in Healthcare Alliance.
Currently, I am near completing my Yoga Therapy Diploma, working towards
becoming an accredited Yoga Therapist.
I specialise in the following areas: anxiety, depression, stress, grief, burnout, strength training, somatic movement and integration, vulvodynia.
I currently teach online to my Yoga community who have been with me since 2017.
I am also working as a Yoga teacher in a primary school in Tower Hamlets, teaching in person for Santander and MIND and working with private clients.
Please get in touch with me if you would like to speak about how I can help with your practice or bring yoga to your home, community or place of work.
See you on the mat.
With love,
~Ameneh
