I could talk about kindness but I find this poem by Mary Oliver hits the spot and conveys the essence of why I have chosen this quality as part of our Self-Love journey.
Don’t Hesitate
If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed or about to be. We are not wise, and not very often kind. And much can never be redeemed. Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this is its way of fighting back, that sometimes something happens better than all the riches or power in the world. It could be anything, but very likely you notice it in the instant when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
What we will cover:
BONUS CLASS - 9th January 2022: Opening Ceremony - we will kick off with a gentle class to get the body stretched and released of the tension that has built over the start of the winter.
Week 1 - 16th January 2022: Patience! We will start our Sunday with a gratitude meditation and some delicious slow movements to encourage our observations of the level of patience we have with ourselves and the body.
Week 2* - 23rd January 2022 - *this class will be at 8.00am* Judgement! Now we are in the depth of winter and grappling with the darkness, the festive season as a distant memory and the way we have turned up for ourselves. Are we going to judge and condemn ourselves or is there a better. kinder and gentler way to be? Let’s move through it together.
Week 3 - 30th January 2022: Boundaries! What are they and what do they have to do with kindness. We will explore our own physical boundaries as a metaphor for the boundaries we incorporate in our lives in order to serve us and observe the ones that do not!
Week 4 - 6th February 2022: Giving! How can we give without depleting? How can we find the balance of energy exchange? We will explore this in class through movement and meditation.
Week 5* - 13th February 2022: Honesty! Where do we compromise our truth and how does that compromise kindness? What do we tell ourselves that results in harshness and criticism? We will explore these notions through a heart opening practice.
Week 6 - 20th February 2022: Forgiveness! Winter is very almost over and after reckoning with ourselves during this season of darkness, no doubt there is some forgiveness to be had. We will finish this journey by honouring the life we have lead up until this moment and affirming self-love with this vital ingredient of forgiveness so that we can move on into the next season aligned with our hearts. Bring your heart, mind and body for a slice of nourishment and reflection. Closing ceremony - bring a candle.
